The annual Fourth of July parade is one of Orinda’s signature events, and the patriotic family affair is sponsored by The Orinda Association – which is sponsored by donors like the ones listed on these pages.
Perhaps the most appreciated of all The Orinda Association’s services is Seniors Around Town (SAT), which provides rides for older residents who can no longer drive themselves. The drivers are all volunteers, and they are paired with local seniors who need a lift to doctor’s appointments, physical therapy and other activities. Here driver Patty Stanten and a senior are in front of the Lamorinda Adult Respite Center, which serves people with mild to moderate memory loss, and is a frequent stop for Seniors Around Town drivers. The demand for SAT drivers is greater than the supply, so new volunteers are always welcome.
The Orinda Association’s other big community event is the September Classic Car Show, which draws big crowds to admire classic and exotic cars. The 2026 Car Show will be Sept. 12, and will feature a German classic: Porsche.
All ages gather on July 4 to celebrate America, and this year will be the nation’s 250th birthday. To make it as special as it should be, The Orinda Association could use the support of all Orinda residents in the planning and execution of the annual parade.

A September day filled with sunshine, gorgeous cars and a community gathering -- that’s what The Orinda Association is aiming for with its annual Classic Car Show. This year it’s scheduled for Sept., 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will feature some of Germany’s best automotive efforts. And even better, it benefits Seniors Around Town, The OA’s program that links volunteer drivers with seniors who need transportation.
