Volunteers from St. Stephen’s Episcopal church in Orinda recently assembled five new kids’ beds at Bay Area Crisis Nursery (BACN) in Concord. BACN provides refuge and safety for families whenever a parent is overwhelmed, hospitalized or facing an unsafe situation with nowhere to turn. These beds will be used by young overnight visitors while their family is under stress.
Construction team included Patrick Hawthorn, Betsy Donnelly, John Donnelly and Andrew Hawthorn with Crisis Nursery Executive Director, Tara Legaspi.
St. Stephen’s congregation purchased the new beds for the boys’ dormitory. Members of the congregation removed the old, damaged beds and installed the new ones in their place.
The project at BACN reflects St. Stephen’s 75-year ongoing commitment to our community: hands-on, neighbors-helping-neighbors engagement.
