2026 Classic Car Show will zero in on Porsche
The theme of the 22nd annual Orinda Classic Car Show, “Porsche through the Decades: Carving Their Own Lane since 1948,” is a can’t-miss choice. Showcasing the classic German sports cars from the inaugural year of Porsche production up to the most current high-performance models is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
The Sept. 12 celebration of an iconic marque like Porsche will highlight a wide range of eras and vehicles that both enthusiasts and everyday people will enjoy.
This year, we are moving the timeline up to offer both historic classics from the ‘50s and ‘60s as well as the newer ‘70s and ‘80s cars that we grew up admiring, often well before many of us could even drive.
Pop culture often celebrates this as the “Rad” era, when music and movies such as Tom Cruise in “Risky Business” and Matthew Broderick as the charismatic high schooler in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” showed us how connected cars were to trends of the time.
Live DJs from Desired Effect will be spinning tunes from the ‘80s as well as classic hits to keep the vibe fun and bring back memories for everyone.
While Porsche is the featured marque, the show field is made up of a wide variety of classic and special interest vehicles from most every decade and country, from the USA to Europe and beyond.
This is my first year serving as chair of the Orinda Classic Car Show, and I’m excited to lead this popular charity event. It’s exciting to see both new and returning cars coming to celebrate with us in Orinda.
I joined the Orinda Classic Car Show committee last year and I’m a fellow enthusiast. Coming of age at the tail end of the Muscle Car era, I spent countless hours perusing Autotrader ads for cheap, used performance cars that even then I couldn’t afford.
Today I have a vintage Porsche 911 and a small collection of muscle cars that I enjoy both working on and driving.
My dad purchased his first Porsche as a young soldier stationed in Germany and eventually passed his appreciation for the marque onto me. I still have his last 911, a 1995 Porsche model 993 purchased new off the showroom floor in the Bay Area.
Car Show entries are coming in daily and we will most likely fill up well before the Sept. 12 show. As fellow car enthusiasts, we would love to see all kinds of fun and interesting cars join this crowd-pleasing event.
