Jeff Heyman’s pictorial view of ‘70’s skateboard culture is at the Museum of the San Ramon Valley.
Orinda News photographer Jeff Heyman has photographs featured in two local exhibits, one a group show and the other a solo exhibit of photographs he took in 1976 as a photographer for his high school newspaper.
“Montevideo: Skateboarding History in the San Ramon Valley,” Heyman’s solo exhibit of 20 photographs, runs through June 8 at Museum of the San Ramon Valley, 205 Railroad Ave., Danville, (925.837.3750).
As a student at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, Heyman documented the local skateboarding scene. His rare photographs, recently printed for this exhibit, are a time capsule of local history and a nostalgic look back at a bygone era, one that was instrumental in the evolution of skateboarding as a worldwide sport.
Heyman also has 14 new black and white photographs in the “Here & Now” show at the Frank Bette center for the Arts, 1601 Paru Street, Alameda, (510.523.6957). Heyman teaches photography workshops at the Center.
This group show, which features a range of art by various local artists, runs through March 29.
Heyman, in addition to his award-winning photojournalism, has had work shown at the Orinda Library, Lafayette Library, Lafayette’s Town
Hall Theatre Gallery and San Francisco’s de Young Museum. View his photographs https://heymanfoto.smugmug.com/exhibits.
