OCC Handbell Choir Attends the Bay Area Spring Ring

Five members of the Orinda Community Church (OCC) Chancel Ringers travelled to Cupertino, CA, this spring to take part in the Bay Area Spring Ring.  “It was incredible to perform with 100 other handbell ringers in a mass ring concert,” notes Gail Mead. “We also attended classes and a concert featuring the renowned handbell musician Mary Liao, using her six-in-hand technique (using three bells in each hand),” adds Kathleen Wiegand.

Chancel Ringer Director Nancy Thursby encourages interested community members to join the handbell choir. “Our church owns five-octaves of recently-refurbished Schulmerich handbells. We have a long-standing tradition of handbell music in our church and encourage anyone to join us who would enjoy being part of a handbell choir.”  Contact nlthursby@comcast.net or call the OCC office

The members of the Orinda Community Church cherish a spiritual heritage of faith and fellowship rooted in the Protestant Reformation and carried forward in the contemporary United Church of Christ.  People of all ages, races, traditions and faith backgrounds are welcome
