The Acalanes Area Chapter of National Charity League (NCL) delivered more than 150 heart pillows to the John Muir Cardiac Unit in support of patients who are recovering from heart surgery. The pillows were made by NCL members at the “Love Your Heart” event on Feb. 24 where attendees learned about maintaining cardiovascular health from Dr. Mary Katherine Donnelly, chair of USF’s nursing department. They were introduced to heart healthy oils and vinegars by Nate Bradley of Amphora Nueva, and got their heart rates up dancing with Justin Cole from Joy in Motion. National Charity League is an organization of mothers and their daughters in grades 7-12 that focuses on community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.
