A flash mob led and choreographed by Art of Mixology event chair Justin Cole (center) of Joy in Motion dance studio momentarily took center stage in Theatre Square.

The Sixth Annual Art of Mixology cocktail competition took place Oct. 12 in Orinda’s Theatre Square, hosted by and benefitting the Lamorinda Arts Council (LAC). The sold-out event invited East Bay mixologists to compete for prizes awarded by industry professionals in six categories. Ticket buyers could sample a taste of each entry and vote to determine the winner in the Audience Favorite category.
This year’s winners are: Mixologist of the Year – Casey Carr (Batch & Brine), Second Place – Phillip McElvain (Grand Lake Kitchen), Third Place – Vincenzo Piccione (Benvenuti Ristorante), Home Crafted Cocktail Award – Lily Gonzalez, Audience Favorite – Vincenzo Piccione, and Art of Table Staging Award – Phillip McElvain.
Lamorinda Arts Council is a nonprofit organization whose mission is “to ignite and sustain artistic expression and appreciation for all ages throughout Lamorinda.” Art of Mixology is LAC’s largest fundraiser, providing support for programs such as Lamorinda Idol and Lamorinda ShortDocs; see lamorindaarts.org.
