The late Heather Metcalf (1944 – 2016) painted Where the Lilies Bloom, a 48” x 48” work of oil on wood as part of her Koi pond series showing a secret place in her garden where lilies bloom.
The Lamorinda Arts Council is continuing its virtual exhibit of the late Heather Metcalf’s (1944 – 2016) artwork through the month of April to match the collaborative exhibit of her work at the Moraga Art Gallery. Heather’s physical paintings can be viewed there through April 25. Brian Metcalf of Moraga, Heather’s husband, mounted this exhibit because much of her largest and best work has rarely been seen. The Council’s virtual exhibit of her work can be seen at http://www.lamorindaarts.org/online-galleries.
The Moraga Art Gallery, located at 432 Center St., is open Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 3 p.m., and by appointment. Details are available at http://www.moragaartgallery.com, by calling 925.276.5407, or by emailing moragaartgallery@gmail.com. President Lucy Beck and Vice President Donna Arganbright invite all who knew Heather to view her never-before-seen work in person at the gallery.
Both Heather and Brian hail from Perth, Western Australia. Heather initially trained in Australia as a graphic artist and worked there professionally, as well as in New Zealand and London, in that field. You can learn more about her artwork after the couple settled in Moraga, Heather’s extensive training in many aspects of art in France and the U.S., and where she exhibited her work by accessing her website, www.heathermetcalf.com.
The Art Gallery at Wilder is virtual because the Gallery is closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. Contact Curators Denise Nomura and Aniston Breslin at wildergallery@lamorindaarts.org or call 925.359.9940.
