Last year’s Orinda Woman’s Club Festival of Trees fundraiser luncheon at the San Ramon Marriott Hotel with Committee Chair Janet Clark, opening the fashion show, wearing a cranberry Lehenga. The fundraiser uses real people as models, showcasing local clothing stores. This year’s event is Friday, Nov. 22.
The Orinda Woman’s Club kicks off its popular Festival of Trees, a fundraising event that benefits non-profit organizations in the Bay Area. Dan Ashley, ABC Channel 7 news anchor, returns as the Master of Ceremonies.
This 38th Annual Benefit Luncheon and Fashion Show is Friday, Nov. 22, and held at the Marriott Hotel, 2600 Bishop Dr. in San Ramon, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $105 per person. Seating is limited and reservations encouraged.
Major beneficiaries from this year’s event include Bay Area Crisis Nursery and the Orinda Woman’s Club Community Service Committee.
The Bay Area Crisis Nursery is a non-profit whose mission is to prevent abuse and neglect of young children by providing support to families who are under stress or crisis.
The Community Service Committee of the Orinda Woman’s Club reviews requests from local non-profit organizations, donating funds to aid those most in need, with a focus on women, children and the elderly.
In addition, educational or vocational grants are given to former foster children, women rejoining the workforce and one student each year graduating from Orinda’s Miramonte High School.
At the event and keeping with tradition, a plethora of amazing gift baskets, beautifully decorated tabletop trees, wreaths and holiday decor will be raffled off. In addition, a separate silent auction with 70 collector items, jewelry, baskets, memorabilia, etc. will be awarded to the highest bidder.
There is also a Destination Drawing for three exciting destinations – a week in a craftsman-style townhome in Olympia, WA, a two-night stay on Sonoma Mountain and a lovely one-week stay at a B&B in Vermont.
A delicious luncheon and dessert will be provided by the Marriott.
This year’s Fashion Show, with 21 models and several elves, is provided by three local fashion houses presenting their fun and stylish apparel and accessories: Chico’s (chic, unique women’s clothing); Johnny Was (the power of simplicity) and Molly b. (irresistible fashion for creative women).
