If you were ever in or ever wanted to be in a marching band, the Orinda Volunteer Pick-Up 4th of July Marching Band is the band for you.
Commitment? One rehearsal and one performance, both on the same day, in the Orinda 4th of July Parade is all it takes.
Uniforms? Band members wear some sort of blue jeans or shorts with patriotic T-shirts.
Trumpet won’t blow? Don’t have a drum? Need Sousa music for your lyre? No problem. Lamorinda Music, located at 81 Lafayette Circle (or call 925.385.0963), has happily supported us for years.
The owners, the McCormicks, often march with us. They even might lend you a sousaphone or trumpet, and they always lend the drums. Plus, plenty of Sousa music for your lyre.
It all starts in the parking lot behind the Casa Orinda at 9 a.m. There’s a rehearsal, and then the band marches in at 10 a.m.
More detailed information is available at the Orinda Association, 26 Orinda Way or call 925.254.0800, but really, all you have to do is show up and play.
