The long high school sports season is coming to a close, and though some North Coast Section and NorCal playoffs were still going on at press time, much of the spring activities have come to a close.
    A sport-by-sport breakdown:

Baseball
Miramonte’s drive for postseason came down to the very last day of Diablo Athletic League play, as the Mats needed a win to qualify for the NCS playoffs. With a dramatic 3-2 win over Las Lomas, Miramonte qualified for postseason for the second straight year.

Softball
The Matadors finished with the team’s best record since 2004 and advanced into the NCS playoffs for the first time in 20+ years. We’ll update on their postseason in July.

Golf
The Matadors didn’t do as well as they hoped in the Division 2 championship, but Archer Eames shot a 74 at Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park to finish third overall – and qualified for the Division 1 individual tournament. We’ll update that result, along with others, in the July issue.

Lacrosse
Both the boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams were eliminated in the NCS playoffs, but the girls did win the DAL championship with a 6-0 record. The boys, however, recorded a win in the first round of postseason play, while the girls lost to San Marin in their first game.

Swimming and Diving
Laird Delbridge broke a school record in the 200 free in the league meet, and both Gabe Hoffman and C.J. McWhorter moved into the all-time top 10 list at Miramonte in the 100 fly. Divers Molly Lynch, Sheena Dhingra and Micah Murdock finished second, third and fourth, respectively, to lead the girls to a second place finish in the DAL meet, while the boys wound up fourth.

Tennis
The boys’ tennis team finished second in DAL play, and won in the first round of the NCS team playoffs before losing to the top seed in the quarter finals.

Track and Field
The big meets for track and field all took place after our deadline, so we will have an update in the July issue.

Volleyball
It was a rebuilding year for the boys’ volleyball team, but the Mats took some steps forward despite missing the postseason.
