The City of Orinda now officially recognizes Dec. 1 as Rosa Parks’ Day, and the Acalanes Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution shines a light on the struggles and contributions of civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks in an exhibition at the Orinda Library. The display, which will run through Dec. 8, honors Rosa Parks’ quiet act of defiance – she refused to give up a bus seat reserved for whites only – still inspires Americans who cherish the Revolutionary ideals of liberty and freedom. (L-R) Maggie Boscoe, Vanessa Crews, Terry Lucido and Barbara Lind helped assemble the exhibit, and Sue Severson was instrumental in pushing Orinda to honor Rosa Parks on every Dec. 1.
