For more than a decade, the Miramonte Public Speaking program has maintained the annual tradition of organizing a food drive with the Contra Costa Food Bank. This year’s drive, led by Nisha Andrews, was an overwhelming success. The students encouraged participation by running a class contest, with all five public speaking class periods engaged in a friendly competition to see who could bring in the most donations, with a pizza party and bragging rights at stake. In an incredible show of spirit, 135 students raised a record-breaking 4,130 pounds of food over this year’s two-week drive.
