In response to the coronavirus outbreak, Lamorinda Idol has made changes to its popular singing contest.
According to event chairman Steve Harwood, the contest will be conducted virtually with participants submitting performance videos rather than taking part in group auditions.
“Without live auditions, workshops, live performances and judges’ feedback, many of the elements that made for a growth opportunity for the participants will be lost,” said Harwood. “However, by providing the opportunity for young people to make their video, there is some growth element. Moreover, it presents a fun activity for those who are housebound during the crisis. We look forward to a full range of activities in 2021.”
Singers and groups must still register through the Lamorinda Arts website, www.lamorindaarts.org.
More information on audition videos is available on the website. To register, participants should click on the “For Singers” icon.
Registration is open through April 22. At that time, registrants will be advised how to submit their video and how the balance of the program will be conducted.
