On May 21, Orinda City Council voted to waive $823,810 of in-lieu parking fees assessed against The Station, a mixed-use development located at 25A Orinda Way. Since the project was approved, California passed Assembly Bill 2097, which eliminates the need for parking for developments within a half-mile of public transportation. Because this law applies to The Station, the developers could have resubmitted their plans, which would no longer be subject to the parking fees. Rather than further delaying the project, which has been in the works for over four years, the City Council approved waiving the fees upon the city staff’s recommendation.
