It was a festive evening in the Orinda Library Plaza Nov. 6, as residents gathered for the moment that the lights on Light Up Orinda’s 100-plus trees were turned on for the first time. The Orinda Community Foundation sponsors the holiday celebration, and thanks to increased donations, this year there are 71 more illuminated trees in North and South Orinda. Carol Brovelli and Kim Wirtz Straub spearheaded the Light Up Orinda project, which will keep the trees lit through January.
