Tracy Wellons steps in as the new operations manager for the Lamorinda Arts Council. She says her grandmother was a talented artist and Wellons displays several of her paintings in her home.

It’s a year of change for the Lamorinda Arts Council (LAC) as newly elected president Tony DeMartile and the board welcome Tracy Wellons as the operations manager.
Wellons’ impressive background includes a Master of Non-Profit Administration from the University of San Francisco and a B.A. in history from the UC Davis. The degree program’s focus is to develop effective non-profit leaders and competent managers who will help build inclusive, equitable and sustainable communities worldwide.
Wellons’ education is well matched with non-profit work experience, most recently at Family Matters in Zurich, Switzerland, where she was treasurer. She also worked in Palo Alto at the Children’s Health Council as the annual giving coordinator.
Wellons moved to Lafayette from Europe with her family in 2023, but is very familiar with the Bay Area, since she grew up on the Peninsula. She is eager to learn more about the art scene in the tri-cities of Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda.
“Living in Europe, we often visited big city museums as well as appreciating street art. My favorite exhibits are paintings by the Impressionists. My grandmother was a talented artist; we have several of her paintings in our home,” she said.
She is well aware of social media’s usefulness to get the word out about upcoming programs. “It is especially effective at reaching different kinds of groups,” said Wellons, who found out about her current role via social media, and appreciates it as a recruiting tool as well.
Outside of work, her interests include walking the Lafayette Reservoir and running on different sections of the Lafayette-Moraga trail with her family. Favorite reads include John Steinbeck books – especially those about California – and Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall series.
Outgoing executive director Ali Kozoll is onboarding Wellons to ensure a smooth transition.
