No foolin’ -- there’s always action in Orinda

(Marcus Teodorovic, Photographer)
Todd Trimble of Orinda Parks & Rec and Cindy Powell from The Orinda Association said there is so much to do in Orinda during the beautiful month of April - from concerts to family festivities, volunteer opportunities and more.

April 3 is the beginning of Food Truck Thursdays at the Community Center, with Taste of the World Market, Inc. Buy your dinner and enjoy the festivities and music with your friends and neighbors.
Or if Jazz or Broadway music is your thing, the Live at The Orinda! concert series offers April 6 and April 27 shows with world renowned performers, here at the Orinda Theatre.
The Orinda Park & Recreation Department is also back with the second annual Touch a Truck family event on April 12 at Wilder Park, and they will have all types of big trucks to explore (registration is required).
Taxes are due April 15 and appropriately, Stress Awareness Day is the next workday. Also on April 16 is National Librarian Day, so enjoy Orinda’s beautiful library and say hello to the librarian. The “new” library is 25 years old, and looks marvelous.
The Free Movie at Orinda Theatre on April 17 is Casablanca. Be sure to see this classic film on the big screen – the way it was made to be seen. Thank you to Tommy O’Doud for a full year of free movies.
We LOVE our wonderful Orinda News writers and staff, especially on April 18, Newspaper Columnists Day.
Rotary Club of Orinda will host its annual Spring Egg Hunt on April 19 at the Orinda Community Center Park. The fun and frenzied hunt begins promptly at 11 a.m. and finishes just minutes later. Get photos with the Big Spring Bunny.
The Orinda Community Foundation, with support from the Orinda Women’s Club and Orinda Parks & Rec, will once again hold Orinda Action Day, when local groups, individuals and families pitch in to clean up our city. This year the community clean-up event takes place on April 26 from 9-11 a.m., and will also include the first-ever Earth Day Mini Carnival, sponsored by Mindful Littles. Sign up at orindafoundation.org/events-1 and make new friends.
Also on April 26, the Orinda Teen Advisory Council (OTAC) will host its third annual Red Cross Blood Drive at the Orinda Community Center (redcross.org).
National Volunteer Week is April 20–26, and this year’s theme is “Connecting Communities.” The Orinda Association could not provide free programs and events without volunteers and your support, and this issue of The Orinda News is an opportunity to celebrate the power of our volunteers and supporters, who make Orinda a wonderful place to live and work.
Join us and volunteer to drive a senior once per month, help with the July 4th Parade or the Orinda Classic Car Show, purchase an ad in our newspaper, or simply donate funds so we can continue to provide our community programs and events.
Thank you again to our supporters: We cannot do this without your help.
