Sawyer Bohlig is one of the top girls’ lacrosse players in Northern California, and after leading Miramonte into the NCS playoffs will move on to play for collegiate powerhouse Northwestern.

Before Sawyer Bohlig even reached the eighth grade, she knew she wanted to play college lacrosse. With a singular mindset, athletic genes and academic drive, the senior standout achieved her dream and so much more.
The Northwestern-bound standout was named the Miramonte High School Female Athlete of the Year only a month after being picked as the Diablo Athletic League (DAL) Foothill Division Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season.
The speedy, relentless and savvy midfielder led the Matadors in goals (79), assists (19), ground balls (60) and points (98), propelling them to a 12-6 record and DAL-Foothill title with a 6-2 mark. She was most dominating in a 16-9 North Coast Section Division 1 first-round home win over Lick-Wilmerding, when she scored a season-high 10 points on six goals and four assists.
She was a model of consistency, scoring at least four goals in 13 matches with a high of seven during a 17-7 win over Berkeley.
As far as gaining possession of a loose ball, Bohlig was by far the leader there, nine times scooping up at least four 50-50 opportunities.
Her ranking among NCS players was third (goals), fifth (points), eighth (ground balls) and 14th (assists).
All of it led to her dream of securing a scholarship to her dream school as Northwestern, under head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, who is considered the benchmark in women’s college lacrosse.
The Wildcats won their ninth NCAA national crown in 2026 by defeating North Carolina, 14-11, backing up their 19-3 record and No. 1 seed.
Northwestern won five consecutive national titles from 2005 to 2009 and back-to-back crowns in 2011 and 2012. After a decade’s absence, Northwestern returned to the top with its eighth title in 2023 before last season’s ninth crown.
Bohlig, a four-time-All-DAL first-team selection, told Sasha Obnial of Miramonte’s The Mirador that she attended ID camps and contacted colleges before she even reached Miramonte.
The biggest piece of advice she could give future lacrosse players is to “remind yourself that everyone has a differentiating recruiting process and there is no one right way to go about it … when you take a step back, remind yourself why you play that sport in the first place.”
It also helped Bohlig that she enjoyed a prolific and enjoyable four-year soccer career at Miramonte, helping a defense that allowed just 19 goals all season for the 10-5-2 Matadors, who finished 5-1-2 in DFAL play.
Bohlig played along the senior backline with Taylor Stevens, Camilla White and Kadence Yim, a group that claimed their 50th career win with a 3-2 win over Tamalpais on Jan. 31.
