Bay Area Studio Artists presents Herd, an exhibit of paintings in acrylics and oils, at Orinda Books (276 Village Square) during the month of October. The book store is hosting an artists’ reception open to the public from 1–3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. Those interested in viewing the exhibit can also stop by during the store’s regular business hours: Monday–Friday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
BASA is a group of local artists who have been painting and showing their work together in Bay Area venues since 2010. Their show Herd examines the herd instinct, that urge to gather with others of your own kind. The exhibit presents many different kinds of herds, including some whimsical varieties. BASA members with work in the show include Jeanette Baird, Ellen Reintjes, Joanne Taeuffer, Sharon Tama, Marcy Wheeler, Suzun Almquist, along with guest artists Ruth Stanton and Lassie Colebourn.
