On May 2, Orinda Intermediate School (OIS) celebrated the opening of their Student Center, the first new school building in Orinda in 25 years. The Center was funded by Measure E, a facility bond approved by voters in November 2018. Parents, students, school staff and dignitaries from the City Council and the Orinda Union School District (OUSD) Board of Trustees attended the ceremony. After a few words from Principal Stacy Wayne, and OUSD Superintendent Aida Glimme, the OIS Bulldog Mascot cut the ribbon that officially opened the Center. The building comprises a reception area, administrative offices, conference room, staff lounge and Wellness Center. Attendees enjoyed an instrumental music concert, book fair, food trucks and open classrooms during the event. Pictured L-R are the Bulldog and Wayne.
