On May 9, The Orinda Junior Women’s Club presented awards to the winners of Youth Ink 2024, the annual creative writing contest open to all middle school students who live in or attend school in Orinda. This year’s prompt was Roots, though entrants were welcomed to write on the theme of their choice. Winners are (L-R) Harmony Yu (1st), Olivia MacDiarmid (2nd), Natalie Zhen (3rd), Brandi Hatzirallis (4th) and Ava Marchiel (5th). The 1st-5th place recipients received cash prizes of $250, $125, $75, $50 and $25, respectively. The following Honorable Mention recipients received gift certificates to our local Orinda Books: Raunav Agarwal, Sophie Davis, Owen Gettell, Marie-Gisele Anagnost, Lorelei Keenan, Aavya Khanna, Emmeline Lew, Trisha Madannavar, Tess Morici and Raelyn Tellis.
