Though Orinda’s Kelly Sopak didn’t get the 500th win of his career at Miramonte, 304 of those victories came as the head coach of the Matadors. Sopak, the president of The Orinda Association, had 94 wins at Northgate and is close to 125 at Carondelet, where he now coaches. Sopak’s days at Miramonte are inextricably linked with Sabrina Ionescu, one of the great players of her generation, and now a star for the WNBA champion New York Liberty.
