Eleven Miramonte seniors announced their athletic commitments last month, with destinations including Stanford, UCLA, North Carolina and the Naval Academy.
Some of these commitments include financial considerations, but all are the result of years of hard work and focus on athletic success.
And of course, the four years at Miramonte prepared the students both athletically and academically for what will be a challenging adjustment. The athletic and academic demands scale up in college, and the competition at all levels is more intense.
It’s also important to note the role of parents, coaches and friends in these kinds of achievements, which, as the saying goes, take a village. At Miramonte, just part of the process, the support of coaches, teachers, trainers, administration and the community as a whole are critical in this kind of athletic success.
The student athletes who made college commitments are (in alphabetical order):
Sawyer Bohlig: Lacrosse (Northwestern)
Sadie Leal-Schuman: Soccer (Stanford)
Roxie Tarantino: Water polo (Loyola Marymount)
Maddie Silviera: Tennis (Colorado College)
Caitlin Chan: Tennis (Middlebury)
Inara Inesi: Soccer (Johns Hopkins)
Logan Letulle: Track (Williams)
Tristan Tucker: Water polo (UCLA)
Brock Bliss: Water polo (Naval Academy)
Samantha Rich: Soccer (North Carolina)
Laird Delbridge: Swimming (UC Santa Barbara)

Clay: As a father of three former Miramonte athletes (25-30 years ago) I always enjoy reading of recent successes of MHS student athletes. Eleven new graduates continuing to pursue their athletic careers at excellent institutions is inspiring, even to an octogenarian.
I must say however that I am rather baffled by the purported alphabetical order in which the eleven athletes are listed in your article. That order does not appear to comport with the sequence of letters that I recall from grammar school.
On a separate point I am a long time CAL basketball fan (both men and women) and I have been consistently impressed with your astute comments that I read from time to time on Bear Insider. Your posts are always thoughtful and well considered.
Happy Thanksgiving, John Siamas
Hi John …
Thanks. I will pass the buck: I got the list in this order from Miramonte, and as it was close to deadline, I just went with the flow.
I have no idea what the ordering process was, but I am pleased to see that readers are paying careful attention to The Orinda News.
And happy holidays to all …
