“Blooming from Within” comes to the Orinda Library Gallery
Lamorinda Arts Council (LAC) celebrates springtime with an entire gallery watercolors in the theme, “Blooming From Within: Where Nurture and Nature Meet To Find Balance” by artist Julie Cohn May 2 through 30. If you agree with Oscar Wilde, “Color speaks to the soul in a thousand different ways,” you are sure to enjoy Cohn’s color-filled gallery of 42 watercolors. They range in size from 48” x 36”on the walls to 8” x 8” in the two glass cabinets.
LAC also features Cohn’s presentations about her experiences as an artist on a healing journey for herself and the planet.
“For me, appreciation and reverence for the earth’s biodiversity inspires great physical, mental and spiritual health,” she said.
Meet her on Saturday, May 9, at her artist reception, which kicks off her first presentation from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Her next presentation is Saturday, May 16, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and her last one is on Thursday, May 28, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. She requests an R.S.V.P. via email, julie@sustainingarts.com.
Regarding her painting process, Cohn said, “I love to dance with watercolor, exchange ideas in a deep conversation. As a free-flowing aspect of nature, water finds its natural home on paper, inspiring me to go with the flow while painting, and in my own life.”
A resident of El Sobrante, she has been an art instructor in her Berkeley studio for over 35 years and at the College of Marin for 25 years. She enjoys helping others to find and develop their own creativity.
Cohn has exhibited extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Her 48” x 36” watercolor on panel, “Flower From Within,” symbolizes her theme and seems to envelop one in a cloud of fragrance. Visit juliecohnfineart.com.
