The Friends of the Library do more than just run a used bookstore

Thanks in part to the Friends of the Orinda Library, fallen tiles at the Community Center are being replaced – which is just another way the Friends of the Orinda Library continue to contribute to one of the most popular institutions in the city.
Since 1950, the Friends of the Orinda Library have supported the library as well as the community at large with a variety of projects. Most notable today is the Bookshop, managed by the Friends, and staffed entirely by volunteers. Located adjacent to the library entrance, it houses a wide variety of gently-used books donated by community members and sold six days a week.
A new feature in the Bookshop (coming soon) will be a desk filled with book recommendations by Friends’ board members, Bookshop volunteers, book sorters and online sales team members. Special book deals will also be available.
In addition, the Friends of the Orinda Library will have a massive book sale during the annual Fourth of July parade and celebration. There will be an extensive selection of children’s books, gift books, bestsellers and many other items. The prices are consumer-friendly and the proceeds will be used to benefit Orinda’s library.
