Arts Council Awards Prizes in Visual Arts Competition

    Campolindo 9th-grader Larkin Stephanos won Best in Show and a $300 prize for her whimsical piece, The Book Jacket (above), at the 18th annual Visual Arts Competition. Sponsored by the Lamorinda Arts Council, the contest is open to all high school students who live in or attend public, private or home schools in Orinda, Lafayette or Moraga. This year’s accepted works were on display at the Orinda Library Gallery from Feb. 14 – Mar. 14. In addition to Stephanos, awards went to the students listed below in their respective categories:

2D painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media
1st place – Hannah Anderson
2nd place – Shae Silva
3rd place – Chloe Kim
Honorable mention: Jennifer Atkins, Audrey Call, Veronica Huish, Brightan Ying

Photography/digital design
1st place – Andrew Parker
2nd place – Jake Turnbull
3rd place – Lillia Hammond 
Honorable mention: Gary Fleischmann, Taylor Floyd, Ignacio Piqueras, Kailani Thompson

3D ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, construction
1st place – Sarah Stenovec
2nd place – Jessica Shen
3rd place – Jivana Nagpal
Honorable mention:Tawny Fischer, Taylor Johnson, Garrett Louie, Emily Sverak
