Classic Car Show Fundraiser Helps Turn Horsepower into Senior Power

Start your engines! The annual Orinda Classic Car Show is this coming weekend, and this year’s 20th anniversary promises to be an event you don’t want to miss.
In just a few days, the Orinda Classic Car Show will be here – Saturday, Sept. 7 – in the Orinda Village. Making our 20th anniversary special, this year we will host 15 “original” Shelby Cobra cars. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, we’ll be displaying many years of those iconic cars.
This free show runs 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and will include food trucks, Czech Beer, Loard’s Ice Cream and a performance by the Lamorinda Idol singers. It’s a super fun event for kids of all ages, so don’t miss this special year. We hope to see you there!
This fun-filled event for the whole family serves as the primary funding for Seniors Around Town, (SAT), which is The Orinda Association’s free door-to-door transportation program for Orinda seniors.
Since 2005, SAT’s team of Orinda volunteer drivers and staff has enabled seniors to stay on the move, empowering them to remain independent for as long as possible and continue to stay connected with community and friends.
“I think the SAT program is magnificent. It’s so full of love, and I was just blown away when I heard about it,” said SAT rider, 88-year-old Jean Finch. “It’s such a wonderful thing. I wish I would’ve known about it sooner so I could have volunteered.”
Thank you, Jean, and to all who have supported SAT with your generous donations and selfless volunteer efforts.
Help us over the finish line. Use the enclosed envelope or scan the QR in the ad below to take part in supporting Orinda seniors. Your donation received between now and Sept. 15 will be matched dollar-for-dollar, so your support goes twice the distance. Enjoy the show and help turn horsepower into “Senior Power.”
