Ron Pickett’s 30 years teaching Glorietta and Wagner Ranch students will be celebrated Tuesday, May 13, in the Glorietta multipurpose room, with students, alumni and parents gathering to honor an iconic Orinda teacher.
Pickett, an award-winning Bay Area performer and teacher, produced a spring musical every pre-COVID year at Glorietta that attained legendary status, and he also served as the ensemble choir director for Glorietta and Wagner Ranch. This, however, will be his last year teaching, so the curtain will go up on a casual gathering to applaud his career at 6 p.m.
In addition to teaching music to all elementary grade levels at the two schools, Pickett also conducted the annual Winter Holiday and Spring Sing concerts where all students participated. Many of Pickett’s former students continued their musical studies in high school and college, forging successful careers in the performing arts.
