Get ready for some good old-fashioned Halloween fun as Orinda’s elementary schools celebrate with a variety of events. It’s time for Glorietta’s annual Funfest Carnival, a day filled with community building and family activities. This year FunFest will be Sunday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Glorietta Elementary School, located at the corner of Glorietta Boulevard and Martha Road. The community is welcome to come and join in the Halloween spirit and festivities. The great attractions at this year’s carnival include: a Super Slide, rockwall, DJ, haunted house, games, an exciting raffle and gourmet food trucks. Game booths are designed to appeal to kids of all ages – from preschool to middle school – and there will be game prizes galore! “FunFest is a tradition the kids get excited about and look forward to every year,” says Cady Behles. “It is as much a part of the kids’ Halloween tradition as trick-or-treat night. Many Gopher grads are now in middle school and come back to enjoy the carnival with their friends. There will also be many fun activities for pre-schoolers in the area, which gives them an early introduction to the Glorietta school campus.” Del Rey Elementary School celebrates all things Halloween with its annual BooFest on Oct. 20 from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include carnival-like game booths, bounce houses, a dunk tank, cake decorating contest and cake walk, puppet and magic show and music. The Kona Ice truck, other food trucks and hot food is available for purchase. Tickets are $10 per person. Del Rey Elementary is located at 25 El Camino Moraga, Orinda. Come join the fall fun that is Creepy Hollow at Sleepy Hollow Elementary! On Oct. 27 from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., be delighted with a spooky haunted house, life-size Hungry Hippos game, inflatable obstacle course and slides, face painting, DJ dance party, carnival games and lots of great prizes. Feast on Fist of Flour brick-oven pizzas and Pokeatery poke bowls. Tickets are $20 (cash or check) at the door. The school is located at 20 Washington Lane, Orinda. Not to be forgotten, Orindas littlest trick-or-treaters can join in the annual Halloween Parade for Tots on Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. Sponsored by Orinda’s Park and Rec Department, the fun takes place at the Orinda Community Center Park where Glenda the Good Witch will lead the stroll around the park followed by Halloween themed activities. Free and open to the public. The Community Center is located at 28 Orinda Way, Orinda.
