Youth Ink Winners Announced

    Students Kaylin Chang, Emma Wong and Holly Craysforth are the winners of this year’s Youth Ink creative writing contest.
    Organized by the Orinda Junior Women’s Club, the contest is open to middle school students who live in or attend school in Orinda. This year’s prompt was “The Gift,” though entrants could write on the theme of their choice.
    First place went to Chang for her “Bright as the Sun.” Wong took second place with “Jin’s Gift” and Carysforth’s third place win was entitled “East.” The winners received cash prizes of $250, $125 and $75, respectively.
    The following students received honorable mentions: Carson Blair, Kaia Bonham, Josslyn Grover, Pateel Haroupian, Indie Lee, Jewel Mendiola, Hana Shukairy, Elise Vansant, Jason Wagner, and Jialei Zhang. These students received gift certificates for Orinda Books.
    Winners were selected by volunteer judges Sally Bolger, Cynthia Leslie-Bole, Michelle Meyers and Colleen Weems.
    Contest sponsors who gave financial support were Friends of the Orinda Library, the Intuitive Writing Project, Lamorinda Arts Council and Orinda Community Foundation.
