During the second annual Wildfire Prevention and Safety Fair, held June 1, in Orinda’s Community Park, Orinda residents Rob Karmele and daughter Vivienn, spent time getting familiar with handheld emergency radios as Lamorinda Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers looked on. The radios, which operate in the Family Radio Service band and do not require a license, are an essential way for people to keep in touch and gain important information during an emergency, such as a wildfire. To learn more about how to acquire and use the emergency radios, contact Lamorinda CERT at https://lamorindacert.org.
